Area and density
Myanmar is the largest country on the main land in South-East Asia. 52 million people are living in a total area of 676,577 sq km. Although Myanmar is inhabited by 135 ethnic groups, about 80 percent of the population are Buddhists.

Climate and temperature
Due to the elongated shape, Myanmar has diverse climate: icy cold northern mountain to hot dry plain. During the hot season (March to May) temperatures could run to 40 degree C in Bagan and Mandalay. From November to February, night temperature in Inle Lake could go down to less than 10 degree C. June to September is the rainy season, but it does not rain much at up country.

Dress
When entering the precincts of religious their foot-wears. Shorts and briefs are defined as disrespectful dress to visit the Pagodas and Monasteries.

Visa
Tourist and Business Visas are available in Myanmar Embassy abroad. Online visa will be in service at very soon.Visas are valid for 28days.Visa fees is 20US dollar. Visa on arrival can be organized by Interconnection Travels. There are two types of tourist visa: Within Myanmar, FEC is used as the same value as USD, for example IFEC is accepted as IUSD by hotels, big restaurants, and as payment of admission fees at Pagodas and Museums.

Currency
The Myanmar currency is called “Kyat”. Visitors can purchase “Kyat” at hotels or at authorized Money-Changer. Travelers’ checks are accepted at the Myanmar Foreign Trade Bank. Major credit cards are accepted only by international hotels in cities. Please note that Master Card is not accepted in Myanmar. The most convenient way is to bring cash (US$).

Customs
All foreign currencies above US$ 2,000, jewelry, cameras and electrical equipments must be declared upon arrival. Export of antiques and archaeologically value items are prohibited.

Transportation
Both Air Mandalay and Yangon Airways operate ATR72 and ATR42 turboprop aircrafts. Flying is the most comfortable way to travel in Myanmar. Train is for young visitors and adventure seekers. To see more country side, bus and car are recommended.
